An attempt to find balance, nature, and groundedness in New York City... starting from a container garden on a terrace, high above the streets of Yorkville... during whatever time is left over after days of toiling away as a recovering BigLaw attorney at a BigFin institution.... Welcome to my little terrace in the quintessential urban jungle!

Late August Food Choices
Peaches and heirloom tomatoes - yay! An add-on to the bean burger on a whole wheat bun with sweet potato fries... that seems within the parameters of a low simple carb diet, right? The produce, though, perfection.
Cornmeal with dal and green shiso - not bad, and outstanding for a last minute concoction of leftovers and pantry staples, with some fresh garden herbs.

Good Riddance, Wooden Planters
Finally, the last of the inherited wooden rotting planters are gone! Although it did take some psyching up to tackle the job...
Self-watering planter tutorial. Sissy asked whether they actually work. Shrug. In theory they should. Can't be any worse.
Mid-project refueling, nutritional and mental, was required.
And finally, it was done!

Rock Rock Rockaways
Jam-packed day. Several items checked off the To Do list:
New car more or less ready to drive on a dime
EZ Pass obtained, just in the nick of time
Trek out to venues close to the parentals for the big birthday bash
Gifts for sweet little family friend purchased
Long haul drive out to the Rockaways to catch up with old family friends and renew the ties, refresh the memories
A good, solid day. Willing to let go of the things that went unaccomplished.

Shiso... Experimental
Shiso, shiso, ever more shiso....
Straight-leafed, curly-leafed, purple, green, purple-green. Lovely-looking now in the two large planters....
