Fall came in with a vengeance.  The past couple of days have been overcast, grey, windy - oh so windy - and rainy and cold.  I suppose rainy is good.  Given the drought, I feel like I should continue to laud the rain.  But on the other hand, I am hopeful that my lauding doesn't bring any more rain than we need to correct the deficit - maybe a bit more for the reservoirs.  But the cold and the damp are affecting my mood and energy levels; beginning to think I have early onset seasonal affective disorder... another Saturday spent mostly under the covers in bed.  Not terrific.
When I finally emerged, and went to the terrace, the wind damage was evident.... Tomatoes were a casualty.
| The first of the tomatoes to form on the stray tomato plants in the blueberry planter.  Poor thing did not reach maturity.  Wonder what I can do with a single green grape tomato - fry it?  Maybe not. |
| The stray tomatoes by the green chair lost some babies too.  And the angle on the one branch - that seems pretty lethal. |
| Casualty. |
| The bad angle from above. |
| And another casualty - farther afield - by the wooden bench across from the swing. |
And then there were other wind injuries.
| The fingernail flowers - all bent at unsustainable angles, despite being presumably well watered.  I wonder if the green seedpods will reach maturity and have viable seeds.  May need to resort to the Mother Garden for backup seeds. |
| The weaker of the lily of the valley pots.  The one that seemed to have a shot is now leaning dangerously right. |
| The cushion on the swing - not in its usual position. |
| The bike parka got shredded, apparently.  Sissy decided staples and tape were in order for the repairs. |
But the added moisture seems to have helped the Thai lime tree-let.  More leaves, new branch.

| Thai lime tree-let: New branch in the middle, with red-tinged leaves. |

With Fall setting in, seems I should be thinking about putting in the bulbs.  Or, perhaps, putting in some greens and taking advantage of the colder weather.  That's what Marie of
66 Square Feet is doing - I should maybe take a cue.  The arugula and lettuces just didn't do so well in the past.  But maybe now....
