Summer Solstice Weekend 2019

Beautiful weather weekend, at last.  Longest days of the year.  Still not enough time.  The Orifice is a jealous mistress.

Father's Day Ferries and Feasts

Father's Day request: Take a ferry ride, eat lobster out in Queens.  Easy enough to deliver.

Initial installment, with more to come.

Stolen Evening

Stolen from, or stolen by?  All a matter of perspective.

The initial goal was to attend the Museum Mile festivities.  That didn't quite happen.  The accomplishment was arriving in time to walk a few blocks down the middle of Fifth Avenue with some late revelers.  In this urban jungle, to walk as a pedestrian in the middle of a street usually teeming with traffic is akin to a dominant lion walking through the savannah.

And then the icing was a new dine out experience, on a Tuesday (!), capped with the most tasty light and fluffy banana cream pie at Eli's Night Shift.

Stealing back the night, to a degree.

June Things (A Few Favorites for All in a Day)

Park jaunts and breaking a sweat.  Spying a kite successfully launched - by kids, no less.  Trees in flower.  Utilizing leftover ingredients in tasty and healthy lunches.  New exotic flavored doughnuts, enrobed in perfectly balanced glaze.  Outdoor seating to enjoy it with a best friend and sidekick.  Food shopping productivity.  Mama Bird recipe verification.  Meal prep baby steps.  Tasty vegan ice cream alternative indulgences.  Garden shed rebuilding and culling.  Serendipitous conversations with Ms. Lovely Neighbor.  Tasty pre-done dinner base enhanced by fresh ingredients already in the kitchen.  Relaxing pre-bedtime showers.  Testing products that work better than anticipated.  Coaxing final squirts of moisturizer for summer-ready heels.  Oh yes - and capturing it all, even if after midnight, to savor for evermore in a blog post, even if tweaking comes later.  And then sleep.

Bountiful Week, Bit Out of Wack

Quite a bit packed into this first full week of June.  A bounty of wonderful experiences, but at the expense of the billable hours ... ergo, the out of balance feeling now at the end of it.

More of this post to come.  To deal with all of this, a new post label - "compromised" = the post was published without being quite ready for prime time, a placeholder to be returned to, a post requiring more fleshing out.  A tool, a tactic to deal with it all.  Blogger apparently now limits the time in which to edit a post; time frame seems to be about 2.5 months.  It didn't use to be that way.  But there's a new reality, so rolling with the punches, in this, as in life, is the call of the day.  On the one hand, going back through editable posts yielded the "touch it once" tip from the "Free Advice" post of some weeks past; this new approach clearly contradicts that.  But then there was also "imperfect can be lovely" - so there is that.  Is it the most professional approach to a blog?  No.  But since this is far from a professional blog (certainly not a moneymaker - no clue how to monetize this thing at all, although the millennials seem to have all of that down pat (more on that in a future post)), allowances must be made.  And, besides, the struggle for time is "on brand," so there's that, too.  So, "compromised" stays.
