No-Labor Day 2023

Unofficial end of summer activities on Labor Day 2023.

I started the weekend with grand ambitions to be productive over the long weekend. I was to catch up on work, on housekeeping, AND spend time with the family and kayak. It didn't turn out that way. But that's just as well - it unfolded as the labor movement that brought us the holiday intended - as a needed respite from the workaday routine and rigors.

We barely even tried on Saturday. We arrived to the Mothership, late, and low-key launched by getting an introduction to pickleball watching Lil' Bro play pickup games at a nearby park.

Sunday was about eating. And then a Netflix evening with Lil' Bro and Sissy - a film we all could get into.

So it wasn't until Monday that we got out to the water. But it was a good outing, on a really steamy day, which didn't seem so bad out there - just as it should be, the unofficial capping off of the summer. We went into one of the wetlands areas. And as we headed in, overhead a small flock of geese in V-formation honked their way toward the south.
