Diary 2016.06.01

Baby steps.

I still haven't managed to plant tomatoes.  My old geranium seeds, gathered a few years back and stored inside nested condiment plastic containers, the once-clear Sharpie descriptions on the side now faded so that I can no longer tell which color flower belongs with which seed container, were just easier to access.  So geranium seeds got planted today instead of tomatoes.  The soil in the planter was still moist from the recent rains, so they got no water afterward.  Now I'll just wait to see if they germinate at all....

Nested containers of geranium seeds.

Unstacked.

Spread out.

Seeds in detail.

I suppose this is tacit concession to loss of faith in the old geranium root stocks.  They just do not seem to be taking at all.  A shame.  My fault for not misting them during the winter.  Well, what can you do.  If the seeds take, or if I give in and buy new plants, next year I will just have to set reminders to care for the root stocks through the winter.

(Lesson learned in blogging - I can edit a post after I publish it, but it only keeps its original date if I let it be until after midnight, not if I decide to edit it in the few minutes before midnight and it is still open, and hence in "draft" when the clock ticks to mark a new day.)
